The Aonach Eagach is another Glencoe classic. The Aonach Eagach is a 10km ridge connecting 2 Munros on either side, these being Meall Dearg and Sgorr nam Fiannaidh. The ridge is widely regarded as the best ridge in mainland Britain in terms of exposure, scrambling and everything else that goes with it! Although in the winter you will need good set of gear to do the traverse in the summer the ridge should be open to everyone’s abilities. The traverse is normally undertaken east to west finishing at Sgorr nam Fiannaidh a stones throw away from the Clachaig Inn for a well deserved pint.
There are several pinnacles along the route that will require scrambling skills (minimal) to give the everyday walker a hint of something they might not come across every day.
Parking is available in several large lay bys dotted along the A82 just west of Altnafedh. This is a long day with a very long walk out (10km back to the car) but this is definitely worth it!
