Stob Choire Claurigh forms part of an 8km long ridge know as the Grey Corries. The Grey Corries take in 4 Munro summits which can happily be combined to form a fantastic day on the hills. The hills are topped in quartzite which give them a distinctive grey colour hence the name.
Stob Choire Claurigh is the largest Munro in the ridge standing at an impressive 3862ft. This height makes it well seen from Spean Bridge to the north. Stob Choire Claurigh is the intersection point of 3 ridges. The northern ridge leads down gently to Spean Bridge. The southern ridge leads via a low col to neighbouring Munro Stob Ban. The south west ridge leads tot he next stage of the Grey Corries ridge the Munro Stob Coire an Laoigh. Stob Choire Claurigh is surrounded by 4 deep corries which offer impressive craggy back walls.
The most common route of ascent is from the north at Spean Bridge with a long walk in via the Lairig Leacach. You can then climb Stob Choire Claurigh via its eastern ridge.
